Alberta hold two draws, issues invitations to provincial immigration candidates

In 2024, the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) introduced a new stream aimed at addressing labour shortages in the tourism and hospitality sector and helping businesses across the province retain skilled workers. To qualify, applicants must have been employed with a tourism or hospitality business in Alberta for at least six months, possess a valid full-time job offer from an approved employer, and meet the required education and language criteria. In terms of recent activity, the draw held on May 13, 2025, marked the second general draw under the Alberta Opportunity Stream for the year. Previous draws have primarily targeted professionals in the aviation and construction industries. For 2025, Alberta has been allocated 4,875 nomination slots, of which 2,077 have already been issued.

The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) provides detailed information on its website regarding each individual immigration pathway, including the number of nomination spaces remaining and the number of expressions of interest currently in the pool. As of the latest update, this data is available for both the Alberta Opportunity Stream and the Tourism and Hospitality Stream. Candidates who receive an invitation under these streams have the opportunity to apply for a provincial nomination. If they are successful in obtaining the nomination, they can use it to support their application for Canadian permanent residence.
