Yukon Nominee Program sending out invitations for 2025 intake

 




Yukon has begun issuing invitations to apply for a territorial nomination following a highly competitive intake for its 2025 Nominee Program. On May 23, the territorial government announced that it had received more submissions aligned with its 2025 priorities than there were available nomination spots. As a result, only the most competitive candidates are being invited to apply, reflecting the program’s focus on selecting individuals who best meet Yukon’s economic and labor market needs.


Yukon is giving priority to applicants who previously received a temporary measure letter of support. This letter pertains to a specific type of work permit granted to foreign nationals already living in Yukon, whose employers intend to nominate them for permanent residency through the Yukon Nominee Program (YNP) in either 2025 or 2026. These temporary work permits were issued for a duration of up to two years. After prioritizing these individuals, the remaining nomination spots will be filled through a random selection process from among the qualifying submissions. Eligible candidates for this selection include foreign nationals who have lived and worked in Yukon for at least one year, graduates of Yukon University, Francophone or French-speaking individuals, and those with letters of support.


Under Yukon’s new Expression of Interest (EOI) system, employers must first submit an online form containing details about the foreign worker they wish to nominate through the Yukon Nominee Program (YNP). The YNP then reviews these EOIs and informs employers who submitted applications during the intake period. As of May 23, Yukon has begun sending out invitations to selected employers, providing them with instructions on how to submit a complete application. The government will also be contacting employers whose EOIs were not selected for immediate application but have been placed into the random selection pool, as well as those whose submissions were deemed ineligible. This EOI system, introduced earlier this year, was created to manage the growing demand for nominations, which now exceeds the available quota. Unlike the previous first-come, first-served method, the new system allows Yukon to prioritize high-quality candidates who better align with its strategic goals for 2025.
