Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has issued 277 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) through the Express Entry system in a recent Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw. To be eligible, candidates needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 726 and had to have created an Express Entry profile before 3:46 p.m. UTC on September 24, 2024. This draw marks the first one in June and follows a series of previous draws in May, including one for the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and another PNP-specific draw, as well as category-based selections targeting healthcare and education professionals. So far in 2025, IRCC has issued a total of 34,717 ITAs through the Express Entry system. This year’s focus has largely been on PNP candidates, while the remaining ITAs have gone to applicants in the CEC category, those with strong French-language skills, and individuals who qualify under other Express Entry priority categories.
The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) offers significant benefits to both Canada and the immigrants it admits by serving as a detailed, evidence-based scoring and ranking method. Designed to identify candidates most likely to succeed in Canada’s labour market, the CRS is grounded in decades of government research on immigrant outcomes. This research has consistently shown that individuals who are young or middle-aged and possess strong work experience, educational credentials, and language proficiency are more likely to integrate effectively into the Canadian workforce. Further validating the effectiveness of the CRS, a 2020 report by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) analyzed the labour market performance of Express Entry immigrants since the system’s inception in 2015. The findings highlighted high employment rates, strong earnings, and low unemployment levels among these immigrants—demonstrating that the CRS is an effective tool for selecting candidates who are well-positioned for success in Canada.
