Manitoba invites more foreign skilled workers to apply for provincial nomination

 This week, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) conducted a new draw under its Skilled Worker Overseas stream, inviting skilled workers from outside Canada to apply for a provincial nomination. Held on May 29, the draw issued 30 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) to candidates selected based on their skilled work experience, ranking scores, and participation in strategic recruitment initiatives. To qualify, candidates needed a minimum score of 606 on the MPNP’s unique scoring system and must have been invited to submit a profile through one of these special initiatives. Of the 30 invitations, five were extended to candidates who had an active Express Entry profile along with a valid job seeker validation code. The MPNP also noted that some candidates with higher scores may not have received an LAA due to missing or expired language test results or failure to provide a valid invitation number from a strategic recruitment initiative. These initiatives are employer-led programs aimed at addressing critical labor shortages in Manitoba, providing skilled foreign workers with a pathway to permanent residence while helping employers fill persistent job vacancies



So far in 2025, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) has experienced a significant reduction in its nomination allocation, in line with changes affecting all Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) across Canada. This reduction is the result of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) halving the cumulative landings targets for PNPs this year. As a result, Manitoba's total nomination allocation for 2025 has been set at 4,750 spots. According to data available on the MPNP’s official website, the program has already issued 1,840 nominations, leaving just 2,910 available for the remaining seven months of the year. Despite these cuts, some provinces have successfully negotiated with the federal government to increase their allocations to match previous levels, offering a potential pathway for Manitoba to secure additional nomination spots if similar negotiations are pursued.
